   We have been voted 2nd most scenic skydive in the world (Everest came first), but we think we have the best dropzone in the world.
   Our leisurely flight to altitude takes us over the Fox Glacier (biggest of the West Coast Glaciers) and up close and personal with Aoraki/Mount Cook, we'll also give you a glimpse of the smaller Franz Josef Glacier, topped off with lakes, rainforests and the crashing Tasman Sea, this is truly the best scenery on offer in New Zealand.

New Zealand's Southern Alps soar upward, awsomely close and imposing beyond the canopy of ancient, giant trees. Your skydive starts when your flight takes off from Fox Glacier village and climbs over the West Coast's rainforests with views of Lake Matheson and the Tasman Sea.

We fly you up to alpine altitudes, around Mount Cook and over the top of the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers, giving you panoramic views of the most spectacular parts of the Southern Alps.

Then launch into freefall, viewing the best New Zealand has to offer. Under the parachute the scenery is absolutely stunning.

Our aircraft is equipped with a full perspex door offering perfect visual opportunities on the way up. Jump from 12,000ft or 16,000ft, giving 45+ seconds or the ultimate 65+ seconds freefall!

Skydive Fox Glacier is a company dedicated to providing an unparalleled skydiving experience with high standards of safety and a personal service. This combines a genuine scenic experience around the Westland national park over subtropical rainforests, rivers and lakes, including Lake Matheson (the most photographed lake in New Zealand ) and the Tasman sea, then beside New Zealand's highest mountains - Mt Tasman and (Aoraki) Mt Cook - and the largest glaciers and snow fields in the Southern Alps.

We are the closest skydivers to New Zealands highest mountains and the West Coasts biggest glacier, a premier area of New Zealand for scenic flights.

Skydive Fox Glacier was relocated from Hokitika to the glaciers in 1997. The business is owned and operated by people who have been involved in the skydiving and aviation industry for more than 25 years.

Our Parachute Systems are top of the line and maintained to the highest standards.

All our Tandem Instructors are internationally qualified with thousands of skydives and are associate members of the New Zealand Parachute Industry Association, NZPIA. They take care of everything and give you a comprehensive briefing on the ground before boarding the aircraft, so all you have to do is concentrate on the magnificent scenery and the ultimate freefall experience you will remember for ever.

Where are we?

We are based at Fox Glacier, 25 minutes south of Franz Josef Glacier. Our airport is just a two minute walk from the village and only 5 kilometres from the terminal face of Fox Glacier, the largest glacier on the West Coast. The glacier is 13 kilometres long and 300 metres deep. No other glaciers in the world are as easily accessible as the Fox and Franz Glaciers.

Near the base township is beautiful Lake Matheson, icon of the West Coast with its enchanting reflections of Aoraki/Mt Cook and Mt Tasman. There is a range of other activities to do at Fox including Glacier Walks and Heli Hikes, as well as other bush walks. Gillespies Beach on the coast to the west has a large seal colony in the winter with smaller numbers to be seen in the summer. There is a wide range of accommodation available in both Fox and Franz Josef.

Fox or Franz Josef? Which Glacier is better for Skydiving?

We are the original Glacier Skydivers and have been jumping here since 1997. We had the choice of the two glaciers for our base. Both Fox Glacier and Franz Josef are unbelievable sights, but we chose Fox Glacier because it is the largest and highest of the West Coast Glaciers, its has the largest snowfields and is closest to Aoraki/Mt Cook and our other highest Peaks.
Franz Josef is a great town and has a wide selection of accomodation, so for people that stay there we provide complimentary transfers to our base

Throughout New Zealand you will see some spectacular scenery - but NOTHING will prepare you for this.....

So, Fox Glacier or Franz Josef? Theres really only one answer.

What weather conditions do we jump in?

Skydiving is very weather dependant. For example, we would not be operating in strong winds or rainy conditions. However, always ring us (Freephone 0800 751 0080) to confirm if you are worried about the weather, as it can change quickly in the Glacier region.

What is the most popular height to jump from?

The most popular height is 12,000ft above ground level (the same height as Aoraki / Mt Cook located just a few kilometres away). From 12,000ft you will experience about 45 seconds freefall at 120mph or 200 km/ph. if you would like that little bit more, stay on the plane for a while longer, and enjoy our bottled oxygen as we climb to 16,000ft, from far above Mt Cook and the Fox Glacier you will experience 60 seconds freefall over New Zealands most spectacular scenery.

How do I get to Fox Glacier?

Fox Glacier is about 25 minutes drive south of Franz Josef Glacier on SH6 or about 4 hours north of Wanaka.
The airstrip is only a 5 minute walk from the Fox Glacier Village. If you don't have your own transport we will pick you up and drop you back to Franz Josef -- just tell us when you make your booking.

What do I wear?

Wear reasonably warm clothing, fleece etc, and sandshoes or sturdy shoes. We will provide jumpsuits, gloves, goggles (glasses or contact lenses are not a problem) and helmets. Don't forget to bring your camera.

Will I see snow in the summer?

The head of the Fox Glacier has some of the biggest and most spectacular snowfields in New Zealand. As the snow and ice move down the valley giant crevasses open up. It is a sight of such granduer that it must be seen to be believed. Our flight to altitude will take you over the glacier and snowfields, summer or winter. This is why we know we have the most spectacular skydiving experience in New Zealand.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes, around 100 kgs. Also most medical conditions will not stop you skydiving, but we suggest that you just have a chat with the instructor when booking in if you have any concerns relating to this.
